Ángel ferrant's wooden playground equipment produced for the Caño Roto Housing Development, Madrid (1957-63).
ferrant was a teacher and friend of Antonio Vázquez de Castro, one of caño roto's designers. caño roto translates loosely to 'broken spigot.' the equipment was stored indoors at night to keep it from disappearing - a testament to it's portability.
in 2014, 3 of ferrant's 'form's for children's games' were restored and included in the exhibition Playgrounds: reinventing the square at the Museo national centro de arte in Madrid. more about the restoration process, here.

the balatonboglár chapel studio of györgy galántai was a non-official, artist run community space. alltogether, 35 exhibitions, happenings, events, concerts and performances were held from 1970-1973.

based in new york's lower east side in the late 1960's, inspired by Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society plan and buckminster fuller's design concepts, the charas group created a program based on developing community autonomy through self-directed economic and education projects.

Experiments in Environment: The Halprin Workshops, 1966-1971
In the late 1960s, American landscape architect Lawrence Halprin and avant-garde dance pioneer Anna Halprin organized a series of experimental, cross-disciplinary workshops in San Francisco and along the coast of northern California that brought dancers, architects, environmental designers, artists, and others together in a process designed to facilitate collaboration and group creativity through new approaches to environmental awareness.
